Data sources
Every figure on AdmitStats traces to an official federal source.
IPEDS — Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System
U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. Primary source for everything on the site.
- ADM (Admissions) — applicants, admits, and enrolled counts (with gender splits), SAT/ACT score bands, and admission-test policy.
- HD (Institutional Characteristics) — institution names, location, control (public / private), and level.
Data are downloaded from the IPEDS Data Center (Complete Data Files). Each page shows the data year and the month it was last refreshed.
College Scorecard
U.S. Department of Education. Reserved for future page sections (cost, outcomes); not currently used for the acceptance-rate figures.
Data quality
We prefer IPEDS as the single source of truth. Figures that NCES estimated (imputed) rather than collected are flagged on the page. See our methodology for how rates are computed and which schools are published.
